Softalk Upgrade (Residential Service only)

To upgrade your Softalk, follow this procedure:
- Go to 'Start' then 'Programs' on your computer where Softalk program is loaded.
- Select 'Packet8 Softalk' and choose 'Uninstall Packet8 Softalk'.
- Download the Softalk program file (right-click and save or in a browser, just click on the link): Softalk_Win32_1005c_33511.exe
- After you download the Softalk program, click on it and open the file. A set up Wizard will pop up and provide simple instructions.
- Follow the instructions until you get to the 'Finish' button.
BPA-410 Firmware Upgrade for Business Fax Service and Softalk™ Office
Broadband Phone Adapter Upgrade Assistant The Upgrade Assistant is a program that runs in Microsoft Windows and will auto-detect and upgrade your Broadband Phone Adapter. Use only Broadband Phone Adapter Upgrade Assistants downloaded from this site.
To automatically upgrade your Broadband Phone Adapter, follow these steps:
- Download the program by clicking on: VODtaUpgrader_000226.exe (Size 1.9 MB).
- Disable "Norton Internet Security," "Zone Alarm" or similar firewall programs before the upgrade.
- Run the program and click the "Auto-Detect BPA(s)" button.
- Once your Broadband Phone Adapter is found, select it in the application window. It should be labeled "BPA version 1.0 US."
- Click "Upgrade BPA."
- Wait a few minutes for the process to complete.
- When the Broadband Phone Adapter is upgraded, a green light under "MAC Address" indicates you are up to date.

To manually upgrade your Broadband Phone Adapter (non-windows users), follow these steps:
- Download the Broadband Phone Adapter program file (right-click and save or in a browser, just click on the link). VODtaUpgrader_000226.exe.
- Lift the handset from your phone then use a pointed tip (such as a paper clip) to push the reset button on the back of the phone adapter once. Listen on the handset for the IP address of the phone adapter. (Note: To upgrade, please make sure the phone is plugged in the LINE 1 port to get the IP address.)
- Open a web browser and enter the Broadband Phone Adapter’s IP address and press "Enter."
- Click "Download" or "Upgrade Firmware" on the left side of the web page.
- In the "Filename" field, use the "Browse" button to find the file you saved.
- Click "Start HTTP Download."
- Using Internet Explorer, on the bottom of the screen you will see progress messages like: "Booting into Downloader Mode. Please wait..." "Performing Firmware Upgrade. Please wait..."
- Please wait approximately five minutes for the procedure to complete. You will see the message "Download Successful."
- Click the "Restart Main Application" button on the web page.
Note: if you are using a Windows 2000/XP PC as your router, the Broadband Phone Adapter will get a new IP address upon booting into the downloader. Use the arp -a command from Start -> Run -> CMD to find out what the new IP address is and repeat the manual process above.

To automatically upgrade your DTA-310 or BPA-410, follow these steps:
- Download the program by clicking on: DtaUpgrader_001417.exe.
- Disable "Norton Internet Security," "Zone Alarm" or similar firewall programs before the upgrade.
- Run the program and click the "Auto-Detect DTA(s)" button.
- Once your DTA-310/BPA-410 is found, select it in the application window. It should be labeled "DTA version 1.0 US."
- Click "Upgrade DTA."
- Wait a few minutes for the process to complete.
- When the DTA-310/BPA-410 is upgraded, a green light under "MAC Address" indicates you are up to date.

- Pick up your Packet8 phone and dial 012-0003 to obtain your adapter's address.
- Open a web browser and enter the DTA-310/BPA410's IP address and press "Enter."
- Click "Download" on the left side of the web page.
- In the "Filename" field, use the "Browse" button to find the file you saved.
- Click "Start HTTP Download."
- Using Internet Explorer, on the bottom of the screen you will see progress messages like:
"Booting into Downloader Mode. Please wait..."
"Performing Firmware Upgrade. Please wait..."
- Please wait approximately five minutes for the procedure to complete. You will see the message "Download Successful."

Click on: BPG510Upgrader_001427.exe (Size 1.8 Mb). The BPG-510 Upgrade Assistant is a program that runs in Microsoft Windows and will auto-detect and upgrade your BPG-510.
Follow these steps:
- Download this program by clicking above.
- Disable Norton Internet Security, Zone Alarm or similar firewall programs
before upgrading.*
- Connect a computer directly to the LAN port of your BPG-510.
- Run the program and click the "Auto-Detect BPG-510 (s)" button.
- Once your BPG-510 is found, select it in the application window. It
should be labeled "BPG-510 version 1.0 US."
- Click "Upgrade BPG-510."
- Wait a few minutes for the process to complete.
- When the BPG-510 is upgraded, a green light under "MAC Address"
indicates you are up-to-date.

Alternative method to upgrading your BPG-510:
- Download the BPG-510 program file (right-click and save or in a browser, just click on the link): sipbpg-0.14.27.
- Connect a computer with a web browser directly to the LAN port of your BPG-510.
- Type http://192.168.88.1 (the default IP address of your BPG-510)
You should now see the BPG-510's System Information Screen.
- In the menu bar down the left side of the screen, select "Upgrade Firmware."
- In the "Filename" field, use the "Browse" button to find the file you saved.
- Click "Start" for the firmware upgrade.
Using Internet Explorer, at the bottom of the screen you will see progress messages like:
"Booting into Downloader Mode. Please wait..."
"Performing Firmware Upgrade. Please wait..."
- Please wait approximately five minutes for the procedure to complete. You will see the message "Download Successful."

- You will now get prompted for a password, use the default password: "admin" (without the quotes)

Packet8 Videophone

To upgrade your VideoPhone, follow this procedure:
- Go to your Packet8 (DV326) VideoPhone.
- Press the 'Menu' button to bring up the "System Menu."
- Use the down arrow button to highlight "Configuration."
- Press the 'Menu' button to bring up the "Configuration" menu.
- Use the down arrow to highlight "System Maintenance."
- Press the 'Menu' button to bring up the "System Maintenance" menu.
- Use the down arrow to highlight "Upgrade Firmware."
- Press Menu button to bring up the "Upgrade Firmware?" menu.
- Select "Yes" by pressing "Menu" button to initiate firmware upgrade.
- A "Firmware Upgrade Progress" screen will appear and display a white bar moving across the screen beneath "Application Firmware" and "Video Firmware" as each firmware is uploaded to your VideoPhone.
- Wait for few minutes until the procedure is completed.
- When the procedure is completed, the VideoPhone should automatically reboot itself. If for some reason it does not, simply manually reboot it by turning the unit off and then back on.

Alternative Method to Upgrade Packet8 VideoPhone: DV326 Upgrade Assistant
If you are having difficulty upgrading via the VideoPhone or need to upgrade multiple units, you can employ the DV326 Upgrade Assistant program that runs in Microsoft Windows and will auto-detect and upgrade your DV326(s). Follow these steps:
- Download the program by clicking on: Latest Firmware.
- Disable "Norton Internet Security," "Zone Alarm" or similar firewall programs before the upgrade.
- Run the program and click the "Auto-Detect DV326(s)" button.
- Once your DV326 is found, select it in the application window. It should be labeled 'BVP ver00xxxx, VCP ver000xxx'.
- Click "Upgrade DV326."
- Wait a few minutes for the process to complete.
- When the DV326 is upgraded, a green light under 'MAC Address' indicates you are up to date.

Packet8 Uniden Whole House VoIP Phone (UIP1868P)

To Automatically upgrade your UIP1868P:
Click on: UIP1868PUpgrader_001410.exe. The UIP1868P Upgrade Assistant is a program that runs in Microsoft Windows and will auto-detect and upgrade your UIP1868P.
Follow these steps:
- Download this program by clicking above.
